12^th May 2026

Dear Parents/Carers,

Year 5 – Englefield Estate

Year 5 children will be visiting Englefield Estate in Reading on Thursday 11^th June.  This will be an opportunity for the children to explore the countryside and learn about many aspects of sustainability, including farming and food production, pollination, forestry and carbon storage, wildlife and habitats, community and heritage.

The cost of the trip is £11.50 per child, we understand that this is a voluntary contribution however, if we do not receive sufficient contributions the trip will not be able to go ahead.  Online payment is made via the School Gateway app, by Monday 1^st June.

The coaches will be leaving school promptly at 9.15am, so please ensure that you arrive at school on time. We will be returning to school in time for the normal collection time. The children will return to their classroom with the staff prior to being released from their usual pick up point.

If your child experiences travel sickness, please make sure that they have taken their medication before arriving at school and if they require any medication for the return journey this is given to their class teacher on the day.

Children should arrive at school wearing their school uniform.  They will also need a waterproof coat, water bottle, sun hat, sun cream and bring a packed lunch in a backpack, fizzy drinks and nuts are not permitted.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to discuss these with your child’s class teacher.

Yours sincerely

The Year 5 Team
