Badger

Autumn 2

Welcome back everyone!  I hope you enjoyed the half term break and had lots of fun.  This half term you will be carrying on with your learning in Science about habitats and micro-habitats in particular, meaning that we will be spending some time outside in the forest - I hope it will be good weather.  You will also be learning about Australia in Geography.  Have any of you ever visited Australia?  Or do you have any family living there?  Can you remember which continent it is in?  Linking to this, you will design and make your own aboriginal masks from clay.  We will look at a selection of these to give you some ideas before you make and then decorate them.  Right at the end of the half term your computing lessons will be about algorithms and debugging.  An algorithm is a set of instructions that tells a computer what to do.  They are used in everything around us, from our computers and gaming stations to washing machines and cars.  In Maths you will continue to learn how to add and subtract one and two digit numbers before moving onto shape.  I won't tell you anything about the English books, as that would spoil some of the lessons, but I'm sure you will enjoy them.  As if all of that wasn't enough, we will be rehearsing for the Nativity coming up right at the end of term.  Don't worry - no-one has been given any of their lines yet.  I'll send them home soon.

Reminders

PE will be on a Thursday afternoon, so come to school ready for lots of exercise and fun.  Remember the PE kit is a plain white T shirt or the school PE top and plain black shorts or tracksuit bottoms and plain black trainers.

You will also visit the library on Thursday afternoons where you can choose a lovely new book to take home and share with your grown ups.

Please remember to bring your reading book and diary to school every day, so that we can hear your lovely reading.

Drinking lots of water throughout the day is really good for you and helps your brain when you are learning, so don't forget to bring in a named water bottle every day.  Everyone in school looks really smart in their College Town Primary School uniforms, but they are all the same, so make sure yours has your name on it.

Thank you
