Kestrel

Welcome to Kestrel Class

Welcome to Autumn 2. It’s hard to believe that a whole half-term has passed already. I am often reminded of the saying ‘Time flies when you are having fun’ and this is especially true with this class. The children are such enthusiastic learners who have amazing ideas that they share, and they embrace every topic we cover.

In English, we will be looking at some famous women who were involved in NACA/ NASA and how hard they had to work to be included in the space programme.

In Maths, we will be working on multiplication and division, then we will be continuing with fractions.

This term in Science, this term we will be looking at Space and Earth in Science. The children have already shown interest in this topic, with some researching the planets in computing.

In Geography, we are looking at North America. The children will learn about the different climatic regions, time zones and amazing natural features of the area. We will culminate with DT where we will be making a well-known American food…watch this space for more information.

We will also have Christmas Jumper Day and Christmas dinner this term, as well as, our Year 5 Christmas Carols. We are looking forward to this and practise is commencing next week so that we can impress everyone with our performance.

Spellings will be sent out every Friday, with a quiz on the following Friday. Please continue to encourage the children to practise their spellings using their word lists.

Reading: Please continue to read as frequently as possible.

MyMaths: Homework is also set every Friday and is due the following Friday.

PE is scheduled for every Monday, so children should come dressed appropriately.

Children must bring a coat to school every day as the weather gets colder.

I am looking forward to another fun-filled half-term with your children. Please remember, I’m always happy to chat before or after school if you need anything at all.
