Welcome to Ladybird Class

It has been so lovely to see the children arriving at school, looking so smart in their new uniforms! The children are settling in very well and are learning the new rules and routines of school.

During this half-term, our topic is 'All About Me'. We will be learning all about each other, from our eye colour to where we live and how many people are in our families. We will even be creating our own self-portraits.

We are beginning to learn some letter sounds, so please check your child's bag to see if there are any new sounds in their orange phonics book. Children will also be bringing home a reading book and reading record. Please write in the record when you hear your child read, as this helps us to understand how they are getting on.

In Literacy, we will be reading a range of books to support learning about ourselves. These will include Owl Babies, The Great Big Book of Families and Super Duper You. We will be practising answering questions and listening to one another.

In Numeracy, we will be developing our understanding of sorting, looking at sets and exploring repeating patterns.

The transition from Nursery to school is a big step, so to support your children, please help them to become more independent with things such as undoing buttons, taking off jumpers and beginning to recognise their names on their clothing.

Please ensure that all uniform is clearly named, so we are able to return items to their correct owner.
