Ladybird

Welcome to Ladybird Class

Welcome to Ladybird Class!

We hope you have had a lovely half-term break and enjoyed the lovely sunshine!  We are now in our final half-term of the year and all the children in Ladybird Class should be so proud of all they have achieved during their first year of school.

During this half-term our topic will be all about animals.  We will be learning about the many different kinds of living creatures that live around the world, from mammals, to amphibians, reptiles and even fish!  We will be learning about their different habitats, their diets and how they adapt to live in different climates.

In Literacy we will be continuing to develop our reading and writing skills. We will be exploring different animal poems in ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ and ‘Commotion in the Ocean’, using non-fiction texts such as ‘Little Kids First Big Book of Animals’ to widen our knowledge of animals, and continuing to enjoy fiction books such as ‘Giraffes can’t dance’ and ‘The Tiger who came to tea’.

In Maths, we will be developing our understanding of doubling numbers and number bonds, exploring and creating repeating patterns and using positional language.

In PE we will be focusing on athletics in preparation for sports day on the 24th June.

Please continue to read at home with your child and record this in the reading diary.  It really makes a significant impact to your child’s reading.

As a reminder PE will be Fridays. Children will need to come to school in:
- All black trainers
- Black trousers
- White polo or T-Shirt
- Black jacket/hoodie.

Please ensure all uniform is named, especially as we are approaching the nicer weather.

Thank you,

Mrs Millgate and Mrs Faircloth
