Stoat
Autumn 2
Welcome back Stoats
I hope that you all had a good rest during your half term break and is ready to take on Autumn 2.
Our term is fully packed with exciting new themes and opportunities!
We have been enjoying and will continue our guided reading book, ‘Edward Tulane’ and the journey that Edward has been going on.
In English we have been exploring what it would have been like living in a small fishing village and how different jobs would have been the heart of a community, breaking everyone together.
We will be finishing off ‘Baker by the sea’ and embark on a new adventure with the book Granny came here on the Empire Windrush’.
Starting from day one, we will be revising all time tables. We strongly encourage parents to assist in helping their children learn their time tables, as this makes the learning in Maths a lot easier. In Maths, this term, our focus is primarily on Multiplication and Division. Learners will be looking at how to make fact families and using inverse operation to help them solve problems.
In our wider curriculum we will be starting with RE. Our topic for this term is: How and why do Christians try to make a difference in the world.
We will be taking on the Romans in History, exploring where the Romans came from and how the city of Rome became the centre of a huge empire, just to start off with.
Our PE lesson will be held every Tuesday. Please assure all learners have the correct PE attire on for this day. We will be learning how to play Badminton.
As the weather is cooling down, we encourage learners to at least have a light rain coat or jumper with them. Please ensure all clothing is labelled.
Children must also bring a named water bottle to school every day.
There will be a weekly spelling quiz, please assist your children in studying for this. Don't forget spellings and Mymaths homework will set every Friday.
Please ensure that your child is:
- Reading at least three times a week
 - Completing their Mymaths homework
 - Practising times tables daily
 - Visiting Rockstars at least twice a week
 - Practising Year 3/4 spelling words
 - Learning and practising the Autumn 2 KIRFs

I am looking forward to our first term in Year 4!
Many Thanks
Mrs Keppler
