Otter

Welcome to Otter class!

I hope you had a fantastic half-term rest. We're half-way through Year 4 already! Wow!

In English, we are going to read 'FArTHER' by Grahame Baker Smith. The story is about a boy who pays tribute to his father's dream of flying, a dream he was not able to fulfil in his lifetime as another call claimed him – war. After that, we will be reading Lewis Carroll's poem 'The Jabberwocky'. It is a nonsense poem written by Lewis Carroll about the killing of a creature named "the Jabberwock". It was included in his 1871 novel Through the Looking-Glass, the sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

In Maths, we will be focusing on fractions. We will be counting over one whole, looking at mixed and improper fractions and converting between them. After that, we move onto understanding decimals and linking them to tenths and hundredths.

In RE, we will be looking at Christianity and Pentecost. In Science, we will be learning about living things and their habitats. We will classify animals into vertebrates and invertebrates, plus understand what makes something alive. In Geography, we will be investigating Madagascar and the environmental impact deforestation had on the country.
