Otter

Welcome to Otter class!

I hope you had a fantastic half-term, it's the final stretch!

In English, we are going to read 'Riddle of the Runes' by Janina Ramirez. Set in the fictional Viking village of Kilsgard, Scandinavia, the story follows a fierce shield-maiden named Alva and her pet wolf, Fenrir, as they decipher a runic code to solve a local mystery. After that, we will be reading 'Varmints' a picture book with dramatically lit artwork and a spare, intriguing text. Varmints tells of a pastoral world in need of protection and of the souls who love it enough to ensure its regeneration.

In Maths, we will be finishing our work for Year four. We will focus on:

- shape,

- time,

- statistics

- position and direction

You can talk to your child about different types of triangles and quadrilaterals, as well as different types of angles. For time, please show them 24hr and 12hr clocks. Finally, they will be drawing line graphs and how to plot co-ordinates on a grid.

In RE, we will be looking at Humanism and how humanists live a good life. In Science, we will be doing a new unit which investigates the flow of liquids and dips into all the knowledge and skills they have used in Year 4. In Geography, we will be investigating rivers and understanding more about our local river.
