The KS1 Christmas production is on the 12th, 13th and 14th of December. Please return your ticket slip to myself or the office if you would like to come and watch :)
Hello Badgers, I can't believe we only have 3 weeks left until the end of the Autumn term! You have been working really hard and producing some fabulous work, well done!
In English, we will be looking at the book 'Journey' by Aaron Becker. This is an interesting book because it does not have any words so we will be prediciting what we think is happening from the pictures.
Our English lessons will ensure children can do the following:
- Consider what they are going to write before beginning.
- Evaluating their writing with the teacher and other pupils.
- Proof-reading to check for errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Learn how to use both familiar and new punctuation correctly, including full stops, capital letters, exclamation marks, question marks, commas for lists and apostrophes for contracted forms and the possessive (singular).
Our Maths learning will be focusing on shape, we have just been on a 2D and 3D shape hunt to find lot of different shape. We will be continuing to look at different shapes, learn to draw some 2D shapes accurately. After that we will be looking and drawing lines of symmetry before completing out end of unit assessments.
In our learning in our other subjects the Badgers will be learning about the Christmas story in RE. We will be looking at the different characters in the story and what they may be thinking or feeling. We will then go on to discuss why Christmas is important to Christians. Towards the end of the term we are going to be making some Aboriginal inspired masks out of clay!
We will also still be finding time to talk about our topic in PSHE; "Celebrating difference'
On Thursday we have our PE learning. This term we will be focusing on dance. We will be learning a firework dance using lots of different dance moves we create together.
Today we went into the forest to build a habitat for a hedgehog. We used our knowledge of hedgehogs to help us find the perfect spot before collecting twigs, leaves and grass to make it. This will help us in English where we are writing a set of instructions using imperative verbs or bossy words to build a hedgehog habitat.
Please bring your reading book and reading diary to school every day.
You should bring a bottle of water with you every day in a named bottle. Please carry it separately from your reading books to keep them dry.
Please make sure your school uniform has your name on it.
PE happens on a Thursday afternoon in Year 2 so don't forget to wear your PE kit that day.
We will also visit the library on Thursdays, so if you'd like to change your book, please remember to bring it with you.
