Welcome back!

It's been a busy and productive half term already, and Christmas is just around the corner now! We have had one set of mock SATs, well done Year 6 for working so hard! There was beautiful singing in our Harvest assembly and orienteering practice in the hall to help us work on being independent.

This half term, our new English text will be Can We Save the Tiger by Martin Jenkins, where we will write persuasive, informative letters about endangered animals. Animals will be the theme of English with our next book as well; Leila and the Blue Fox by Kiran Millwood Hargrave. Revise your times tables so you can complete our fractions unit in maths, then to convert units in the next unit.

In science, we will be using the darker weather to learn about light and shadows. It's cooking in DT, which will mean planning and making our own three course meal! We'll be learning coding in computing with Python and discussing the importance of the connections in our lives in PSHE. We'll be able to tell you all about it in Spanish, as we learn the vocabulary for school life. Geography is all about population changes and music is of course Christmas songs!

Now the weather is officially becoming so much more wintery, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately, and brings a waterproof coat into school every day. As we are lucky enough to have the MSA, we try to go outside for a bit even in the wetter weather, but they must be wearing a coat to do so.

Please remember to keep on top of homework, and parents, please continue to read regularly with your children—it really does make a huge difference.

Key Information

Our PE and library slots are on a Wednesday afternoon – (black shoes, trousers/shorts and a white top please). Please leave jewellery at home where possible.

Please remember to bring in your reading record each day as we do lots of reading!

Homework

• All children will take home two pieces of homework each week (Grammar and Reading), plus MyMaths homework that is set online. We also set weekly spellings that will be tested on a Friday.

• Homework will be set on Friday and due the following Friday.

• We will mark it together as a whole class.
