Welcome to Badger Class!
What a brilliant half term Badger Class have had! It has been extremely busy but the children have worked incredibly hard and should be very proud of all they have achieved!
This half term the children have been writing their own stories based on a picture, taking inspiration from the book 'Journey'. The children have written some very creative stories using their imaginations! We also learnt a new poem, '10 things found in a Wizard's pocket' and the children wrote their own versions entitled '10 things found in an explorer's backpack'. We also started our new topic - Globetrotters! The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the continents, oceans and some very intrepid explorers! They wrote a fantastic advert trying to persuade people to visit Antarctica. In maths they also worked very hard improving their problem solving and reasoning skills in statistics, time, fractions, addition, subtraction and place value.
Next half term will also be incredibly busy as we head towards the end of Year 2! In English the children will learn all about the HMS Victory and the Mary Rose and write non-chronological reports about them. We will then move onto writing instructions for how to make a healthy, fruit smoothie and finish the term writing some letters to their new teachers. In maths we will be consolidating all the new skills the children have learnt this year and use this to solve more problems in multiplication, division, measurement, money and shape. Our topic will continue to be Globetrotters! We have an exciting trip to Portsmouth in a few weeks - look out for the pictures below. As well as all of this, the children will compete in our annual Sports day and perform their end of year play.
I am looking forward to a busy (and hopefully sunny) end of the year!
